George Santos, a Republican representative, has been expelled from Congress

George Santos, a Republican representative, has been expelled from Congress.

The House of Representatives voted to remove George Santos from Congress with 311 in favor and 114 against.

Mr. Santos is facing over twenty federal charges, including fraud, money laundering, and theft of public assets. Since entering Congress late last year, he has also been accused of lying about his background.

On Friday, just minutes before the voting results were announced in the House chamber, he quickly left the Congress building, claiming to be a victim of congressional bullying.

Mr. Santos had previously admitted to lying about his education and work experience.

Since these allegations surfaced, he has faced increasing calls for his resignation from Congress, including from Republican politicians. However, he had repeatedly stated that he was determined to complete his term as a representative.
