The Ministry of Sports and Youth says the population of unmarried individuals who have never married is 12 million people.
The Director General of Planning at the Ministry of Sports and Youth stated that in the thirteenth government, due to the overlap of many provisions of the Marriage Facilitation Law with the Youth Population Law, no action has been taken.
Currently, the population of individuals who have never married is about 12 million. Among them, there are especially women over the age of 35, raising concerns of leading to permanent singleness among them. This issue brings about harms and consequences, and many supportive institutions are no longer able to support these families and individuals. Overall, marriage is one of the factors that prevents many harms.
We have conducted a research study to examine the various factors influencing young people’s inclination or lack of inclination to marry. Cultural, economic, and social factors are all intertwined. If we rank these factors, most people’s mental barrier is cultural and social issues, because according to marriage registration statistics, the marriage rate in deprived and underprivileged areas is higher than in affluent areas.
