A member of the Cultural Commission of the Parliament believes that imposing higher fines on those who do not observe the hijab is more effective.
Bankipur, a member of the Cultural Commission of the Parliament, mentioned the amount of fines for not wearing the hijab. For the first offense, a fine of 3 million tomans has been considered because many people are initially unaware of the issue and going directly to court becomes a criminal matter, which does not reflect well on the individual.
Therefore, the Judiciary Commission has concluded that initially there should be a fine of 3 million tomans and for the second offense, the case should be referred to court, where the penalty becomes 24 million tomans.
Imposing higher fines on those who do not observe the hijab is more deterrent and has less social costs.
