Pope Francis warns about the dangers of artificial intelligence
The leader of the Catholic Church, on Thursday, February 4th, acknowledged that he himself has been a victim of deepfake images and warned about the misleading dangers of artificial intelligence. He once again called for the establishment of international regulations regarding the use of this technology for the common good.
In his message for World Communications Day, which takes place on May 12th worldwide, Pope Francis spoke about his concerns and hopes regarding artificial intelligence.
He asked people to temporarily set aside catastrophic predictions and concerns about the passive effects of anything new, but in his three-page message, he focused more on explicit warnings about cognitive pollution, which can distort reality, promote fake narratives, and trap people in ideological bubbles.
