Iraq revoked the operating license of Bank Melli
Reuters news agency reported on Thursday, February 8, that the Central Bank of Iraq has revoked the operating license of Bank Melli, the largest Iranian bank.
In a document from Bank Melli Iraq dated January 31, which was confirmed by two senior officials of this bank, the reason for this decision was stated as the international sanctioning of Bank Melli Iran.
Bank Melli Iran did not respond to Reuters’ inquiry regarding this document.
In part of the Central Bank of Iraq’s document, it is mentioned that due to the losses of your branch in Iraq, the limitations on its operations, and the inability to expand banking activities, along with being on the list of international sanctions, it has been decided to revoke your operating license.
