Iran's water industry spokesperson says the average rainfall is 31% less than last year

The spokesperson of Iran’s water industry stated that the average rainfall is 31% less than last year.

Firouz Qasemzadeh, the spokesperson of Iran’s water industry, mentioned the country’s water resources situation, indicating a 31% decrease in average rainfall from the beginning of the current water year until late February compared to last year.

According to ISNA, based on the latest statistics released, by late February of the current water year, 14 out of the country’s major dams hold less than 20% of water.

According to this report, the volume of water in the country’s dams has reached 21.26 billion cubic meters during this period, showing a 7% decrease compared to last year.

Sahar Tajbakhsh, the Muslim head of the Meteorological Organization, also stated that this year the warmest month of Azar in the past 33 years has been recorded in the country.

She mentioned that the country’s temperature has increased by about 0.4 degrees Celsius per decade in the past half-century, with some of the country’s meteorological stations like Parsabad in the northwestern region reaching around 20 degrees Celsius, which is considered a very strange record for the country.
