Britain has imposed new extensive sanctions against Russia.
On the eve of the third year of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, Britain announced sanctions against more than 50 individuals and entities aimed at hitting the Kremlin’s military capabilities.
According to the UK Foreign Ministry, on Thursday, the third of Esfand, the new list of sanctions includes some importers and manufacturers of Russian machinery that can be used in defense and military systems.
Since February 2022, when Moscow began its attack on Ukraine, Vladimir Putin’s government in Russia has faced the toughest and most extensive regime of sanctions in the world.
However, the death of Alexei Navalny, the biggest opponent of Putin in prison, which occurred last week and coincided with the anniversary of the war in Ukraine, led to a new round of sanctions against Moscow by the West.
Britain’s new sanctions are announced one day after the European Union members reached an agreement on their thirteenth package of sanctions against Moscow, sanctioning nearly 200 individuals and entities in connection with the war in Ukraine.
