Currently, peace negotiations with Azerbaijan are not possible.
Armenia’s Prime Minister stated that the Collective Security Treaty has not been implemented regarding Armenia, and Yerevan has suspended its membership in the organization.
Nikol Pashinyan, Armenia’s Prime Minister, mentioned that from our perspective, the Collective Security Treaty, especially in 2021 and 2022, has not been implemented concerning Armenia, and we cannot ignore this matter. We have suspended our participation in this treaty to see what the future holds.
The proposal to diversify security relations and Pashinyan’s abstention from attending the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s latest events is the newest leaf in a series of events indicating a cooling of relations between Russia and Armenia. Pashinyan previously canceled a planned exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on Armenian soil and also refrained from attending the meeting of friendly independent countries in October.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization is composed of countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and Belarus.
