The United States called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza
Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, on Sunday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into the besieged strip to end what she described as inhumane conditions and a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Kamala Harris’s statements are among the clearest remarks made by a senior U.S. leader about the situation in Gaza, asking Israel to alleviate the suffering of the people in this region.
Ms. Harris, speaking at an event in Selma, Alabama, to mark the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when Alabama state troops attacked civil rights defenders, also called on Hamas to agree to the release of Israeli hostages, which would precede a six-week ceasefire and the delivery of more aid to the people of Gaza.
