The US White House’s stance on Gaza has not changed

John Kirby, the spokesperson and coordinator of strategic communications for the US National Security Council, told reporters in Washington on Tuesday that Washington’s abstention on the UN resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza does not indicate a change in our policy, as the final text does not include elements such as condemning Hamas, which we believe is necessary. We did not support this resolution.

The White House spokesperson said that US officials are very disappointed with Netanyahu’s decision not to send his advisors for talks at the White House regarding the Rafah operation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled the Israeli delegation’s trip to Washington for talks at the White House after the US abstained on the Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all prisoners.

The Biden administration spokesperson added that our view that a widespread ground assault in Rafah is a major mistake has not changed.
