Sadegheh and Samaghi, an Islamic scholar, were returned from the hospital to Evin Prison

Sediqeh Vasmaghi, an Islamic scholar, has been returned from the hospital to Evin Prison.

Sediqeh Vasmaghi, a critic of the Iranian government and opposed to compulsory hijab, has been returned from the hospital to Evin Prison.

A source close to Ms. Vasmaghi told BBC that her transfer back to Evin Prison took place despite the doctor’s insistence that she needed to undergo a heart angioplasty.

Ms. Vasmaghi was sent to the hospital yesterday after her condition worsened, with symptoms of chest pain and high blood pressure.

Ms. Vasmaghi was arrested in late March 2024 at her home in Tehran and was charged with election sanctions, publishing a photo without a headscarf, and her critical views on hijab.
