Arrest and Summons of Two Journalists in Qazvin and Tehran on Charges of Spreading Falsehoods in Cyberspace
Journalist Hesam Abedihah was arrested for reporting on a major fraud in Qazvin and criticizing judicial officials, while another journalist, Hasan Abbasi, was summoned for publishing content about poverty in Hormozgan.
The Telegram channel Civil Protest Bazaar published a photo of Qazvin journalist Hesam Abedihah in handcuffs on Friday, April 6, and reported that he was arrested for reporting on the fraud case of the company Razayat Khodro Taravat Novin and was temporarily released after posting bail.
Critical journalist Hasan Abbasi also recently shared a photo of his summons to the Tehran Media Court, accused of spreading falsehoods through cyberspace.
While sharing this summons on his X account, he stated that his summons was due to his advocacy for alleviating deprivation in Hormozgan province and mentioned that the main reason for deprivation in southern provinces is that some people in positions of power, instead of working to eliminate deprivation, are focused on repression and increasing deprivation.
