Taliban Minister of Communications Prepared Plan for Restriction or Complete Ban of Facebook

The Minister of Communications of the Taliban has prepared a plan to restrict or completely ban Facebook.

The Minister of Communications of the Taliban has announced the possibility of restricting or completely banning some social networks, including Facebook. The ministry says the plan is finalized and the final decision will be made by the Taliban cabinet.

Ahmadullah Alkozai, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications of the Taliban, also stated in response to questions from BBC Persian that Facebook has adopted policies contrary to the Islamic Emirate government of the Taliban and has imposed sanctions on all sectors of our system.

Meta, the owner of social networks Facebook, Instagram, and messaging app WhatsApp, had previously stated that it has banned the activities or promotion of the Taliban and is closing accounts of Taliban members. Meta has designated the Taliban as a dangerous organization.

Mr. Alkozai added that I must clarify that the Minister did not say that Facebook will be blocked in Afghanistan in general, but he said that work has been done on its plan and has clearly stated the reasons for it.
