Ismail Haniyeh confirmed the killing of his three sons and three grandchildren in Gaza.
Mr. Haniyeh told Al Jazeera that he considers the killing of his sons as an honor for them and himself. They stayed with the people of Palestine in Gaza, did not leave, and did not flee.
He added, ‘The blood of my sons is no different in color than the blood of our people.’
The political leader of Hamas heard the news of the killing of his sons and grandchildren while busy visiting Palestinian wounded who had been taken to Qatar for treatment.
The Israeli army has not yet commented.
An Israeli source told Haaretz newspaper that there are concerns that the agreement with Hamas for the release of hostages may be jeopardized due to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh’s sons.
Mr. Haniyeh told Al Jazeera Qatar that our demands are clear and we will not compromise on them. The enemy is delusional if it thinks that putting my sons in the negotiation mix will force Hamas to change its position before our movement sends its response.
