The UK Prime Minister Announces First Transfer of Refugees in the UK to Occur in 10 Weeks

The British Prime Minister says the first transfer of asylum seekers residing in Britain will take place in 10 weeks.

The British Prime Minister says the first flight carrying asylum seekers residing in this country to Rwanda will occur within the next 10 to 12 weeks.

Rishi Sunak said in a press conference on Monday, April 23, without providing details, that his government has made specific preparations in this regard.

He added, ‘We have put an airport on standby, reserved administrative charter planes for specific locations, and have 500 trained individuals ready to escort illegal migrants to Rwanda.’

According to Reuters, the British Prime Minister also responded to a question about the country’s membership in the European Convention on Human Rights, saying he is confident that this plan complies with all of Britain’s international commitments.

Britain’s move to send asylum seekers to the African country of Rwanda has faced widespread criticism, and legal actions have been taken both inside and outside the country to prevent its implementation.
