The US Department of State is striving to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
A deputy spokesperson for the US Department of State responded to Rafael Grossi’s claims, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stating that Iran is a few weeks away from obtaining the necessary enriched uranium for nuclear weapon production, saying that they are working to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The US Department of State official added, ‘We will continue to support the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency in their efforts. We will also continue close consultation with the European Union and other partners on this matter.’
Patel stated, ‘The US President has clearly stated that we are making every effort to ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons. However, I do not have an assessment to offer regarding Grossi’s statements.’
He also mentioned some speculative reports about behind-the-scenes negotiations between Iran and the US to revive the 2015 agreement. He said, ‘The United States and Iran must answer this question, but the agency has always emphasized the necessity of dialogue.’
