Black Days of the Internet in Iran

The Dark Days of the Internet in Iran

Statistical analysis in the summer of 1402 indicates that the downward trend in the penetration rate of fixed internet continues, and the download speed on 4G mobile networks has also decreased.

On the other hand, despite this decrease in penetration rate and the number of mobile internet subscriptions, the penetration rate of mobile internet continues to increase and has reached nearly 127 percent.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communications seems to have high hopes for the fiber optic project and has promised that by the end of this year, the coverage of fiber optic will double and internet speed will increase by 50 percent.

According to an IT expert, as long as there is no unrestricted access to the internet in Iran, the development of fiber optics will be merely a fruitless and showy initiative.

The regulator’s report on operators’ download speeds on 4G networks in the summer of last year also shows a significant decrease compared to the previous season.
