A Former NSA Employee Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison for Spying for Russia

A former employee of the U.S. National Security Agency was sentenced to 22 years in prison for spying for Russia.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced that a former employee of the U.S. National Security Agency was sentenced to about 22 years in prison on Monday for attempting to transfer classified information to Russia.

According to Reuters, this individual handed over the secret information to a person he thought was a Russian agent, but it was later revealed that the recipient was an undercover FBI agent.

Jareh Sebastian Dalke, a 32-year-old from Colorado Springs, Colorado, pleaded guilty in October to six counts of attempting to transmit classified national defense information.

The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Jareh Sebastian Dalke used an encrypted email account to send parts of three classified documents to an individual he believed was a Russian agent between August and September 2022.
