After Approval by the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber Assumed Presidential Responsibilities

After the approval of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber assumed the responsibilities of the presidency.

With the confirmation of the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash and after the approval of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber Dezfuli, the first vice president of Ebrahim Raisi, will assume the responsibilities of the presidency until the elections are held.

He will hold this position for two months. According to the Iranian constitution, the presidential elections will be held again within the next 50 days.

According to Article 131 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic, in the event of the president’s death, his first vice president, with the leader’s approval, assumes his powers and responsibilities. A council consisting of the Speaker of the Parliament, the head of the judiciary, and the first vice president is tasked with ensuring that a new president is elected within a maximum period of fifty days.
