Import of electric cars has been permitted
According to the 1403 budget law, the import of new and used electric and hybrid cars has been officially announced
In clause T of note 9 of the 1403 budget law, it is stated that in implementing Article 9 of the Clean Air Act approved in 1396, to reduce urban pollution, the import of various types of new and used passenger cars with less than five years of age, electric and gasoline-electric hybrids, into the country is permitted. The import duty for electric cars for renewing the taxi fleet in cities in 1403 is set at half a percent unit, and for other applicants, four percent units, and the import duty for gasoline-electric hybrid cars is set at fifteen percent units
The Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade is authorized to apply discounts on the import duty of these types of cars and their separate parts in exchange for investment in expanding electric public transportation, developing its infrastructure, transferring technology, and increasing the localization of gasoline-electric hybrid cars, up to half of the resources allocated for this purpose. The resources obtained from the import duty of gasoline-electric hybrid cars and their separate parts will be used for developing their infrastructure and providing facilities and incentives for purchasing this type of domestically produced car. The Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade is obliged to prepare the executive regulations of this clause within one month of the enactment of this law and to get it approved by the Cabinet
