Thousands of trees drying up in Chitgar Forest Park
The Ham Mihan newspaper in its Monday, June 11th issue, highlighted the drying up of thousands of trees in Chitgar Forest Park, stating that the bark beetle pest has attacked the coniferous trees of this man-made forest and is spreading rapidly. This incident has also occurred in the Sarvehesar, Lavizan, and Taloo parks, but this forest park is more affected by the situation.
The extent of the drying of these trees is such that people easily use them to start fires and say that the number of these trees is increasing every month.
The Forest Research Organization states that about eight thousand trees in Chitgar have dried up due to water stress and reduced water rights.
