Shariatmadari, the caretaker of Kayhan, withdraw in favor of one; a man is one who goes back on his word.

Hossein Shariatmadari, the caretaker of Kayhan newspaper, urged the candidates of the Revolutionary Front not to be intimidated by being labeled as cover candidates and to withdraw in favor of one. He quoted Ayatollah Khomeini saying, a man is one who goes back on his word.

In a note with the same title, ‘A man is one who goes back on his word,’ on the second page of Kayhan newspaper on Wednesday, he warned about the lack of coalition among principlist candidates and urged them not to let an event similar to the 2013 presidential election and the rise of Hassan Rouhani happen.

Mr. Shariatmadari, who is appointed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, wrote that the multiple candidates of the Revolutionary Front should not be intimidated by the psychological operations pursued by those close to the reformists in election campaigns for Masoud Pezeshkian, who sarcastically declare that the multiple candidates of the Revolutionary Front have entered the scene as proxy candidates.

Hossein Shariatmadari wrote that some candidates have announced during debates that they intend to stay in the race; they should not consider withdrawing in favor of another as disregarding their previous commitment.

The editor of Kayhan, however, emphasized that we evaluate Mr. Pezeshkian himself, excluding his associates with a bad track record, within the circle of the revolution.
