Why did Jalili remain silent about Zakani’s corruption?
Why did Jalili stay silent about Zakani’s corruption when doctors asked him to stay till the end, he said he will stay and not let you become president?
He deceived the people, and everyone who participated in the debate knew this, but except for Masoud Pezeshkian, no one protested against him.
Even Saeed Jalili, who claimed to fight against corruption and lies.
Telling the truth to the people was not just about staying in the elections.
Zakani and all those who were his allies in the debate knew that all the promises he made were just illusions. Even if he became president, he couldn’t bring meat and chicken to people’s homes or give out golden packages, and solve the problems of absolute poverty in two or three months, just like Ebrahim Raisi couldn’t.
Zakani learned to make promises of two or three months from his time as the mayor of Tehran.
Perhaps he thinks that the people of Tehran will forget and not remember, for example, he had promised to add a metro station every month or every two months, not only did this not happen, but the number of metro stations opened during Zakani’s time is the lowest in the entire period of metro construction in Tehran.
The era of Zakhani’s mayorship in Zakan city is the most stable era of managing the Tehran Metro. Since Zakhani took office, the manager of the Tehran Metro operating company has changed several times, even a young inexperienced person with no significant managerial background has been appointed as the head of Tehran Metro.
When he was dismissed, many Tehran Metro staff were dissatisfied. Although these dissatisfactions were not very important to the Mayor of Tehran, even worse, the lives of the people were not important to him either, as he has not been able to establish proper management stability in the busiest and most crowded transportation hub in the country.
Zakhani had said that he would collect open drug addicts from the streets of Tehran within two months, but he did not mention that the opposite of what he had said was happening, and their numbers multiplied several times. Since 2021, he intends to solve the housing problem in Tehran.
Since he became the Mayor of Tehran, the housing situation has significantly worsened, and the rental prices have multiplied several times. It seems that everything he promised to solve in Tehran has become several times worse.
For example, he wanted to break the traffic backbone, break the drivers’ backbone, and worsen the traffic in Tehran. Now, during peak traffic hours in Tehran, drivers are forced to use more clutch and brake than before and even spend more time in traffic.
He had promised that 20,000 electric taxis and vans would be deployed in Tehran. In debates, he had said that a thousand units are ready for operation, but no Tehran resident has seen even one of them, let alone 20,000.
He had also promised about buses that he would increase Tehran’s bus fleet to 5,500 buses. Three years have passed, and it hasn’t even reached 2,500. Perhaps he thinks as long as he is the mayor of Tehran, he has the power to choose the president as he thought he did.
He wanted to build the largest amusement park in Looizan, Tehran, promises that had not been professionally investigated at all, and he had given these promises to the people of Tehran. The Department of Natural Resources came to the aid of Tehran residents and stopped him so that the environment of Tehran would not be destroyed further.
Zakani had promised to launch a benevolent loan fund in neighborhoods, but I doubt Tehranis have seen such a thing in their neighborhood or even heard about him giving out citizen wallets, for example, charging 200,000 tomans per month. He didn’t do any of these things he wanted, if he becomes president, he should give gold.
The promises of making Tehran smarter, which were not very realistic, are also strange in a city where preparations have not been made for the disabled. Talking about an electronic city seems like a joke. By the way, services for the disabled and their comfort and peace have not been provided much in the city of Tehran.
But worst of all, since Zakani became the mayor of Tehran, even death has become expensive.
Now, a regular grave in the new sections of Behesht Zahra costs around 15 to 20 million tomans, and it has become so expensive that the Tehran City Council has said that it will be paid in installments for families. So if you are from the weak and poor class of Tehran, it is better to get the thought of death out of your mind, as your family will become unfortunate.
These were just some of the promises of someone that not only did not save Tehran from the problems he talked about, but also made it worse.
He was now ready and claimed in his debates that he had come to the field to save the people of Iran. The same person who had been called a cover-up since his arrival, and it became clear that it was also a cover-up for Saeed Jalili, whose election headquarters now intend to campaign for him in the second round of elections.
Saeed Jalili is the same person who knew that Zakhani made many empty promises to the people of Tehran and did not act on many of them.
Jalili knew that he does not tell the truth to the people in front of the camera of the national TV, and his claim to stay until the end of the elections is not more than a deception. Jalili knew and remained silent in the face of the deception happening on the other side of the table, and did not say anything.
Although he does not say now that Zakhani and Qazizadeh Hashemi, with the withdrawal they predicted, wasted billions of tomans of public money as they wasted people’s time.
But now the people of Tehran have the right to demand whether someone who has never been honest with them should remain as the mayor of Tehran or not. It is better for the Tehran City Council to decide on their demands before Zakhani hides all the truth from them, which he may have already done until now.
