Abbas Abdi wrote that the ballot box is not a charity box where we throw in money and the owner of the box spends it however they wish, and we are only tasked with unconditionally depositing this money into the owner’s account.

We define the meaning of electoral participation ourselves, and its importance is higher than just getting our preferred candidate elected. Of course, non-participation can be equally significant, and no one can criticize those who boycott from this perspective. It’s natural for someone who doesn’t see the benefit of bringing new capital to a company to refrain from doing so.

In the years 2019, 2021, 2023, and even in the recent first round of elections, less than half of the people voted. So, they should say that we no longer have legitimacy. Why don’t they say that? Because this statement has other aspects, and indeed, electoral participation can highlight and showcase these other aspects. Therefore, I still believe that the main issue is participation. Political life and fate largely depend on this indicator, not just the final result.
