This October's Surprise in the US Elections Might Be Iranian

This year’s October surprise in the U.S. elections might be Iranian.

The October surprise is an inseparable part of U.S. elections and always a looming event for candidates in the weeks leading up to election day. Since the ominous 1980 elections, there hasn’t been an Iranian October surprise, and the story of American hostages in Iran that year forever linked the concept of the October surprise to U.S. elections. The October surprise of the 2016 election was the release of an audio tape of Trump admitting to a penchant for sexual harassment of women and detailing his dirty habits, which, along with James Comey’s actions regarding Hillary Clinton’s email case, set the October elections ablaze. Comey was forever disillusioned and regretful of his conduct regarding Hillary and that case, and in 2020, he supported Biden to make amends. This year, in October, if there’s a surprise we are already aware of, it might be the release of the film ‘The Apprentice,’ which explores Trump’s life in his younger years and the expansion of his activities in connection with the infamous New York figure Roy Cohn. The film explicitly depicts Trump’s misdeeds and inappropriate personal life. It is named after Trump’s famous show and garnered attention at the Cannes Festival. Trump’s efforts to halt the film’s release have apparently failed, and unless something happens, ‘The Apprentice’ will premiere in the U.S. on October 11.
