We will not imprison an individual as much as possible, says the head of the judiciary

The head of the judiciary said that we should avoid imprisoning an individual as much as possible.

The head of the judiciary stated that paying attention to the families of prisoners is one of our constant emphases addressed to judicial officials and prison authorities. Among these, the families of prisoners must take great care and be vigilant so that when a member of their family is released from prison through the help of benefactors or legal channels, they do not commit another crime, as in that case, the possibility of reapplying legal channels and receiving help from benefactors becomes difficult and challenging.

Mohseni Ejei further stated that our strong and continuous emphasis directed at judicial authorities is to avoid, to the extent possible and feasible, imprisoning suspects who do not need to go to prison according to legal standards. Going to prison only exacerbates their problems.

Sometimes a suspect can be released on bail before the final verdict. In such cases, the judicial authority must take necessary measures to allow the suspect to introduce their bail as soon as possible and avoid sending them to prison unnecessarily. Additionally, the bail amount should not be set so high that the suspect is unable to deposit it and is forced to be imprisoned. On the other hand, if a suspect is detained based on necessity and in accordance with the law, once the necessity for detention ends, the detention order should be converted to another legal arrangement.
