Araqchi’s Reaction to Borrell’s Statements: Europe is a Symbol of Hypocrisy
Josep Borrell, the head of the European Union’s diplomatic service, announced on Tuesday, October 31, in response to the execution of Jamshid Sharmahd on the social media platform X, that the EU is considering measures for an appropriate response. Borrell, while expressing sympathy with Sharmahd’s family, emphasized that according to EU laws, the death penalty in any situation is a violation of the right to life and the ultimate denial of human dignity.
Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, reacted to Borrell’s message on the social media platform X, writing, ‘When you talk about supporting the right to life and human dignity, I want to believe you, but the problem is that you Europeans shamelessly support the genocide in Gaza and the massacres in Lebanon.’
Araqchi continued, with a hint at European measures, to repeat the judiciary’s claim that Jamshid Sharmahd was involved in terrorist operations in Iran, and said, ‘How about considering European measures to support the families of Jamshid Sharmahd’s victims?’
