Expulsion of over 300 Afghan citizens from Turkey
The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced on Sunday, November 11, that over the past two days, 325 Afghan migrants have been expelled from Turkey to Afghanistan.
The ministry’s statement mentioned that some of these individuals lacked legal residency documents in Turkey and were transported by air from Istanbul to Afghanistan.
The statement noted that the International Organization for Migration has provided each of the expelled migrants from Turkey with 150 euros in assistance.
Maulvi Abdul Rahman Rashid, Deputy Minister of the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees, stated that they are in contact with Turkey to resolve the Afghan migrants’ issues as quickly as possible.
With the Taliban’s return to power, thousands of Afghan citizens have traveled to Turkey, but in recent months, Turkey has intensified the expulsion of these migrants.
The increase in unemployment, poverty, economic crisis, and fear of Taliban’s retaliatory attacks are major reasons for the escape of Afghan citizens from the country.
