Syrian refugees residing in Turkey celebrated the fall of Bashar al-Assad

On Sunday, December 8, Syrian refugees residing in Turkey celebrated the fall of Bashar al-Assad. These Syrian refugees gathered in front of the Fatih Mosque in Istanbul and waved the flags of the Syrian opposition.

According to reports from the German news agency, there have also been reports of celebrations in the southern city of Gaziantep, near the Syrian border.

According to United Nations statistics, Turkey has accepted about 3 million Syrian refugees, more than any other country. It is said that most of these refugees have come to Turkey from Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city.

Since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011, many Syrian children have been born in Turkey and have never seen their homeland. According to statistics from Turkey’s Ministry of Interior, approximately 240,000 Syrians have received Turkish citizenship so far.
