On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump appointed Andrew Puzder, the former head of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s fast-food restaurants, as the U.S. ambassador to the European Union.
Mr. Puzder had previously been nominated during Donald Trump’s first presidential term to serve as Secretary of Labor but was forced to withdraw before officially starting.
Donald Trump first announced the appointment of Andrew Puzder as the U.S. ambassador to the European Union on his social media platform, Truth, writing that Andy is a lawyer, businessman, economic analyst, and bestselling author.
The U.S. President further wrote that Mr. Puzder was appointed CEO of CKE, the parent company of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, in 2000. During his 17-year leadership, he rescued the company from severe financial crises and ensured its survival.
