EU Warns Washington About Consequences of Trade Tensions
Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany from the Social Democratic Party, warned US President Donald Trump on Monday, February 3rd, upon arriving at the informal summit of EU member state leaders in Brussels, that if tariffs are imposed on European products, the EU will also take reciprocal actions.
Scholz said the prerequisite for any understanding is awareness of one’s own strength; Europe can take action.
Olaf Scholz added that it is clear as a strong economic region, we can shape our own policies and respond to tariff policies with tariff policies.
Despite emphasizing that the primary goal is to reach an understanding with Trump, Scholz said if necessary, we will do it and must do it, an action which he said will also be detrimental to the United States.
