First Batch of French Fighter Jets Arrives in Ukraine

The first batch of French fighter jets has arrived in Ukraine

France has delivered the first Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine. French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that these jets have arrived in Ukraine along with Ukrainian military pilots who have been trained in France.

The exact number of these aircraft has not been specified, but French media have reported that this number is likely six.

The Mirage 2000 fighter jets are products of the French defense industry. French President Emmanuel Macron had previously announced the dispatch of these jets to Ukraine.

Ukraine had previously received several F-16 fighter jets from other Western countries. However, the Ukrainian Air Force still mainly uses Soviet-era fighter jets to defend against Russian attacks. According to Reuters, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Thursday, February 6th, that the Netherlands has also delivered American-made F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
