The UAE intends to invest 40 billion dollars in Italy
Georgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, announced that the United Arab Emirates intends to invest 40 billion dollars in this country. This financial commitment was announced following the first official visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, to Italy.
This investment will focus on various sectors including artificial intelligence, data centers, underwater activities, renewable energies, and rare minerals. Meloni considered this investment a significant step in the bilateral relations between the two countries, transforming them from distant partners to collaborators on a common path.
This investment will also support the Mattei Plan, named after the Prime Minister of Italy. This plan is aimed at developing Africa to reduce the influx of migrants via the sea to Italy. Meloni also referred to a project announced in January, which involves cooperation between Italy, Albania, and the UAE in transferring electricity through an underwater cable in the Adriatic Sea.
