The European Union agency cannot confirm that Iran’s nuclear program is solely peaceful in nature.
The European Union representative at the Wednesday meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors stated that the agency remains concerned about the long-term lack of cooperation from the Islamic Republic in resolving outstanding safeguards issues.
The union emphasized that the agency cannot confirm that Iran’s nuclear program is solely peaceful in nature.
The European Union expressed concern over nuclear activities at several undeclared sites, which include unregistered nuclear materials that may still exist in Iran, and said that despite the adoption of five Board of Governors’ resolutions and multiple opportunities provided in the past five years, Tehran has not yet clarified the safeguards issues.
