A senior Kremlin official opposed the proposal for a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine.
A Kremlin official announced that Russia opposes Washington’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.
The Kremlin stated that Moscow is seeking a long-term solution to the conflict with Ukraine instead of a temporary ceasefire.
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President, raised this issue on Thursday, March 13th, corresponding to the 23rd of Esfand.
According to the Russian media group Arabiya, Mr. Ushakov argued that a temporary cessation of hostilities would only serve as an opportunity for Ukrainian forces to regroup.
He also added that steps that are merely a pretense of efforts for peace are of no benefit to anyone.
The senior Kremlin official declared that any peace agreement in Ukraine must secure Russia’s interests.
He also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will likely express his opinion on the U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire later.
