Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, mentioned the issue of responding to Donald Trump’s letter during his weekly press conference with reporters.
He stated that our response to this correspondence will be made through appropriate channels after completing our reviews.
Mr. Baghaei did not provide further details but described the reports published in the media as speculation.
Last week, Anwar Mohammed Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, met with Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, in Tehran and delivered Donald Trump’s letter to him.
Earlier, the U.S. President had said that he had written a letter to the Iranian leader inviting him to negotiate.
Mr. Trump had simultaneously warned about the possibility of resorting to a military solution.
The news of Mr. Trump’s letter being delivered to Iran was published while today, Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s leader, described the U.S. invitation to negotiate as a deception of world public opinion.
