The Prime Minister of Denmark: Our national borders are non-negotiable
Mette Frederiksen speaking to reporters
When we are asked to give up part of the Kingdom of Denmark’s territory and face pressures and threats from our closest ally, we must ask ourselves what to believe about a country we have admired for years.
A country that has stood for freedom more than any other country.
You know us, you know what we stand for, and you know that we do not surrender.
National borders, state sovereignty, and territorial integrity are principles rooted in international law, fundamental principles established after World War II to ensure that small countries need not fear larger ones.
So, the issue is not just about Greenland or Denmark; it is about the global order we have built together across generations.
You cannot annex another country, even with arguments about international security.
