Salehi, Minister of Culture, Says TV's News Authority Has Diminished

Salehi, the Minister of Culture, stated that the television’s news authority has diminished.

The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said that for the formation of the soft power of domestic media, they must be recognized as the official authority.

He warned that if the media authority is in the hands of foreign media, one cannot expect domestic media to be the main carriers of soft power.

Salehi emphasized that the diminishing authority of domestic media is a threat to national security, noting that this issue is not specific to any particular group and everyone must pay attention to the importance of the authority of official domestic media.

He referred to statistics related to news sources in the country and said that in the year 79 (2000/2001), television was the main news source, but now this authority has gradually declined, and the internet and satellites have taken its place.

These changes depend on technological and social factors.

Salehi stressed that efforts must be made to restore the authority of domestic media.
