In the past 37 days, 450,000 Afghans have returned from Iran to their country, according to the United Nations.
Following the war between Israel and Iran, the arrest and deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran, whom the government considers to be residing illegally, has intensified.
The United Nations has warned that the massive wave of returning migrants will further destabilize Afghanistan, which was already struggling with chronic poverty, unemployment, and shocks from climate change.
Serious concerns have also been raised about the violation of their rights and security, especially for women and girls.
Previously, Pakistan had also expelled many Afghan migrants.
