The UK Foreign Secretary said more sanctions will be imposed on Iran in the coming weeks.
The UK Foreign Secretary stated that if the Islamic Republic of Iran does not abandon its nuclear ambitions, the UK, along with France and Germany, might activate the snapback mechanism outlined in the JCPOA agreement to reinstate UN sanctions against Tehran.
David Lammy, in a meeting with a British parliamentary committee, said that in the coming weeks, pressures on Iran will increase because the European troika can reinstate the sanctions.
He explained that it’s not just our sanctions, but there is also the United Nations mechanism that can impose extensive and severe sanctions on almost all of Iran’s economic sectors.
He warned the officials of the Islamic Republic that they need to make a decision.
The UK Foreign Secretary announced that the reinstatement of UN sanctions could lead to much greater suffering for the Iranian government unless Tehran seriously responds to the international community’s demand to retreat from its nuclear ambitions.
