Grossi: IAEA inspectors will soon return to Iran’s nuclear facilities

Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, announced in his speech on Wednesday, September 9, that following an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the agency’s inspectors will soon resume their work at this country’s nuclear facilities.

He described the situation as complicated, referring to the recent attack on nuclear facilities and the new law passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly for withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, but he emphasized that the new agreement has paved the way for renewed cooperation.

According to this technical agreement, inspections of all nuclear facilities and reporting on them, including enriched uranium stockpiles, will be conducted based on Iran’s new internal procedures.

Grossi clarified that this technical understanding does not alter the rights and obligations of the Islamic Republic under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

He described this agreement as an important practical step and expressed hope that this cooperation could serve as a model for resolving international challenges.
