Minab Prosecutor Issues Indictment for 166 Accused of Smuggling 400 Million Liters of Diesel at Bandar Kalahi

The Minab prosecutor issued indictments for 166 defendants accused of smuggling 400 million liters of diesel in Bandar Kalahy.

Ebrahim Taheri, the Minab prosecutor, stated that indictments have been issued for 166 individuals accused of smuggling over 400 million liters of diesel in Bandar Kalahy, and their cases have been sent to court for sentencing.

He mentioned that these individuals were owners of warehouses where millions of liters of smuggled fuel were stored in Bandar Kalahy.

According to this judicial official, if convicted, these individuals will face imprisonment, flogging, and a monetary fine exceeding 60 trillion tomans.

The Minab prosecutor also stated that indictments had previously been issued for 20 other defendants in this case.

Mojtaba Ghahramani, the head of Hormozgan’s judiciary, also said in June of this year that the volume of fuel storage tanks for smuggling in Bandar Kalahy exceeds 21.5 million liters, which is equivalent to the daily production of a refinery.

According to him, fuel smuggling in Bandar Kalahy has developed over several years in terms of volume and time to reach its current state, and even if 10,000 Nissan trucks were brought to Bandar Kalahy, they could not empty the existing smuggled fuel reserves in this port.

Bandar Kalahy is located in Minab County, Hormozgan Province.
