The judiciary reports the arrest of a woman promoting ways to evade proof of infidelity
Iran’s judiciary has reported the arrest of a woman who, in controversial Instagram advertisements, offered methods to legally prevent the proof of infidelity to a spouse. The Tehran prosecutor had filed charges against her and that law office.
Mizan, the news agency of Iran’s judiciary, announced on September 26 the arrest of this woman, describing her as a pseudo-lawyer blogger, and reported that she was detained on two charges: pretending and interfering in the practice of law, and inviting and encouraging individuals to commit offenses against public morality through electronic systems.
The woman’s name has not been disclosed, and her role in that law office is unclear. The Instagram page of this legal institution has also been taken down. The BBC has contacted this law office for further explanations and details.
Yesterday, several judiciary officials and the bar association warned against interference in the practice of law and the phenomenon of lawyer bloggers. On the Instagram account of this institution, now blocked, other advertisements, including legal ways to change one’s age by up to 5 years, were also seen, which had not elicited a reaction.
This is not the first time lawyer bloggers have made headlines.
