A video of the moment thieves fled from the Louvre Museum has been shared on social media. The video shows the thieves using an elevator to exit the museum and then escaping on a scooter.

On Tuesday, October 20, the French prosecutor’s office announced that the financial damage resulting from the theft of royal jewels from the Louvre Museum is estimated to be around 88 million euros (102 million dollars).

Lore Bequois, the Paris prosecutor, told RTL network that this figure has been estimated by the museum curator.

However, she emphasized that if the thieves have the very bad idea of melting down these jewels, they will not obtain an amount equivalent to this value, because their artistic and historical value is much greater.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati announced on Sunday, October 18, that a theft at the Louvre Museum in Paris took place and stated that the theft lasted only 7 minutes.
