The Norwegian Peace Council controversially canceled the Nobel torch parade for the Peace Prize winner.
In an unexpected move, the Norwegian Peace Council has decided not to hold the torch parade, a traditional ceremony for Nobel Peace Prize winners, for Maria Corina Machado, the right-wing Venezuelan politician.
Previously, all winners of this prize were honored in a formal ceremony.
In a statement, the council mentioned that the members believe Machado’s values and views do not align with the council’s principles, which is why this decision was made.
However, analysts and political activists describe this action as an example of the chronic bias of leftists, where anything not aligned with their political taste is rejected and censored.
Maria Corina Machado received the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts in promoting democracy and human rights in Venezuela, but due to security conditions in her country, her attendance at the award ceremony in Oslo is uncertain.
