Iranian officials: Tehran’s water reserves are on the verge of depletion

Officials in Iran have released new statistics and dimensions of the water crisis. Their warnings about the depletion of Tehran’s water reserves have reached a serious stage, and while Iranian media reflect the news with headlines like ‘Countdown to Disaster,’ some religious figures have asked people to pray for rain.

Ahad Vazifeh, head of the National Center for Climate and Drought Crisis Management, told ISNA that Iran is experiencing severe drought and is facing a crisis in water resource supply.

He continued that according to meteorological reports, there will be no significant rain systems in Iran for the next 10 days.

The outlook for short-term rainfall is unclear, but effective precipitation can be hoped for in the winter.

As water cuts continue in various Iranian cities, Mr. Vazifeh also said that the gap in water supply has deepened, and the pressure of consumption has shifted to underground water resources.
