BBC Apologizes to UK Parliament for Releasing Fake Trump Video

BBC apologizes to the UK Parliament for releasing a fake video of Trump

According to the Telegraph and Daily Mail newspapers, Samir Shah, the head of BBC News Network, is set to issue a formal apology on Monday to the head of the UK Parliament’s Culture, Media and Sport Committee for broadcasting a manipulated video of Donald Trump’s speech in the Panorama documentary.

This letter is being issued after the White House accused the BBC of spreading 100% fake news. The incident relates to a segment of the Panorama program aired in October 2024, just a week before the U.S. presidential election. The video was edited in such a way from Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech that it accused him of inciting and encouraging the riot at the Capitol.

The Telegraph newspaper had earlier reported that in the broadcast version of the BBC documentary, Trump was shown telling his supporters that he would go with them to the Capitol building to fight with all their might, whereas he had actually said he would go with them to peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard.
