Iran rejects the claim of attempting to assassinate the Israeli ambassador in Mexico
Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said this claim is completely baseless and fabricated, and an attempt to damage Iran’s relations with countries that have independent policies and ethical stances regarding Israel’s crimes.
After reports quoting an anonymous American official suggested that an active Iranian unit in Latin America intended to assassinate Ainat Kranz Neiger, the Israeli ambassador in Mexico, the Mexican government declared in a statement that its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection have no knowledge of this matter.
Mr. Baghaei, also referring to Mexico’s official stance, said that the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran found the claim so ridiculous and absurd that it initially didn’t even require a response.
