Former CIA officer: Israel has used Afghan refugees in Iran for intelligence missions

John Kiriakou, a former officer of the United States Central Intelligence Agency, stated in an interview with Julian Dorey’s podcast that Israel has exploited the difficult financial situation of Afghan refugees in the Islamic Republic of Iran to carry out intelligence missions.

According to him, a large number of Afghan refugees who live without documentation and do not have access to any medical, food, or welfare services are in a situation where their poverty and inability push them to undertake risky tasks for small amounts of money.

Kiriakou explained that Israeli agents employed these individuals by paying them one hundred dollars for missions such as standing at a specific point and noting the times when commanders of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s military passed by, and sending this information to intelligence networks. He says Israel has recruited thousands of these refugees for such missions.
