The US Halts Processing Residency Applications for Afghan Nationals

The US has halted the processing of residency applications for Afghan nationals

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on Thursday, December 6th, Wednesday night local time, that it has stopped processing residency applications for Afghan nationals. This decision was made following an attack by an Afghan national on two National Guard officers in Washington.

Following this attack, Donald Trump stated in a video message that all cases of Afghan nationals who came to the US during Joe Biden’s term should be reviewed again.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services, in a message on X, announced that from this moment, the processing of all immigration applications related to Afghan nationals will be indefinitely halted until further review of security protocols and background checks.

The protection and safety of the homeland and the American people remain our focus and sole mission.
